1930 - Visiting Our Grandparents
MarkD published on November 6, 2025We frequently went to Enid to visit. Grand Ma and Grand Pa Davidson's house at 710 E. Chestnut, was always a neat place. It was clean and they had nice things even though they were fairly poor. They had cherry trees and made pies often. They were so good. Remember they had nice Christmas trees. But they were very particular about not letting anyone touch the ornaments. I got scolded several times for that. They had a gas floor furnace. It had an observation port just below the grill. You could look down and see the blue flame. I thought that was awesome. Grand Ma Robinson at this time lived in small 2 room house on Chestnut about a block west of Grandma Davidson’s with Ethel, and sometimes Henry Rahm. Their house was simple, crowded and not too neat. Grandma had lost most of her sight, probably from cataracts. She stayed in bed a lot. However, she said she could wash dishes because she could feel if they were clean. She was very friendly and wanted us to stay close to her.
