    • Moving to Sapulpa

We do have a little source of information.  That's letters that were written to my folks by Virgie.  That's after we moved to Sapulpa.   So on May the first 1924, we were transferred to Sapulpa.  About all I have now in that time is a note from these letters of Virgie's to my folks.  On May the 8th, we went to Beggs and did some work down there setting meters and so forth.  I was quite impressed with the scenery.  Lots of hills and Blackjacks and no section line roads.  Lots of oil wells.  Allen refused to call the new place home.  He didn't like leaving home and it wasn't home to him.  The house we rented in Sapulpa was very nice.  It was a lot nicer than we had been used to.  It was a modern place at 417 S Linden in Sapulpa and a very pleasant place to live.

On May the 27th my notes say that on May the 25th, Virgie was in Enid.  Her father was sick.  Whether that was the accident north of Enid by Turners place, I don't remember.  A very notable thing was, I talked to Virgie over what we called the wireless at that time.  It was the carrier current over the 66KV line from Sapulpa.  The note says I worked at slick and then on the 25th we had some high line trouble.  I went to the dispatchers office and talked to Virgie over the carrier current again.  Some mention was made of Mrs. Hamilton who was our next door neighbor there in Sapulpa.  On May 31, Virgie came home on the train and said Allen sure had missed me.  He fell off of the washer for some reason or the other.  He was all over everything.  And we all enjoyed a modern bath.  Up to this time we had used tubs.  Wash tubs that is.  I walked to and from work.  It was about a mile.

I have a note here about we were still planning a vacation on July 12th and Virgie wants her hair bobbed.  On July 19, my sisters were coming and we were plenty excited about it.  We were going to meet them at West Tulsa.  On July 26th the girls came.  I wish we had some notes on that vacation but we don't and I am not sure I can recall just what was done but August 17th, we arrived home from the vacation.  We had a blow out and we were very tired and Allen was so glad to get back to his tricycle.  We must have been in Oklahoma City because I made note of the fact that skirts were short, up to the knees, in Oklahoma City.  What do you think of that.
