    • Papa's Postal Route

Mr_ Robinson delivering mail in Ford Model T-1Talking about driving cars, Papa had a car and I know the main reason that he got it for was he needed it in his business of carrying the mail to and from the post offices and the depots.  Sometimes he would get me to drive the car to and from the East Enid post office which was located close to the Oklahoma Christian University.

[Linus:  "I just thought of the time that Virgie's Aunt Lizzy's husband, Uncle John, he had a rural mail route operating out of Garber and he had an old Metz car.  It had been a long time since I had that Metz come to mind.  It was one of these rather primitive, as I think about it now, cars.  I can't think too well about the peculiarities of it but any way he drove that on his mail route and I went with him on his mail route one time which was a rather unusual experience."]

[Robert:  "Mother said Aunt Lizzy and Uncle John had a house in the city and also on the farm near Garber.  Sometimes they lived out at the farm and sometimes they lived in town."]

[Linus:  "I think for some years they lived on the farm and it was during this time that I went on the mail route with Uncle John.  Then after that they sort of half way divorced from farming and lived in Enid.  And that is where I got acquainted with them at Virgie's home.  They had three girls and one boy.  I associated with them quite a bit.  As a matter of fact, I can remember one time that they had me over there for a party at Garber at their house.  A teen age party."]
