      This is from a tape sent to me by Roger Wright.  From the text, the tape must have been dictated by Dad around 1984.  RED, 8/15/96   Dear Great Niece Melinda,   This tape is from your Great Uncle, Linus A.     • Great Granddad Davidsons Grand Parents and Parents

      Grandfather (John Lowry Davidson) and Grandmother (Maretta Axtell) lived in Mechanicsville on stage line between Erie and Pittsburgh.  Got list of brothers and sisters.  Great Grandfather's name was Patrick.  (Dad knew this.  When he was quite young he had a new testament which belonged to Patrick.  It disappeared and Dad never found what happened to it.)  He knew Papa's brothers and sisters.  Got a little info about Axtells, ie, there was an uncle named Axtell.  Possibly some about Condit.  Ruth Condit who married a Rudolph was a teacher of Papa's in Venango Co.  Grandmother's parents were named Thaddeus Axtell and Bathsheba Condit.  Dad still has the piece of paper.  ...

        Note: The following is a statement by Linus A. Davidson concerning my knowledge of our Davidson ancestors.  (This is an edited copy of that statement dated 3/2/2001)   There was a Patrick Davidson that lived in Cumberland County, Middleton Twp PA born about 1696 and died 6 November, 1754, in Middleton Twp.  He had 3 sons, Samuel, William and George.  He was a notable person.  He and his son William patented land in the location which is now part of the town of Carlisle in Cumberland Co.
