This is my couching quilt so far. It's not as dark as it looks, but I'm planning to add some lighter colors.  The couching design on this wall hanging features an ethereal arrangement of large, overlapping spiral motifs crafted from thick, textured yarn secured with zig-zag stitching across the surface. Set against a moody, horizontal batik fabric that transitions from deep navy and slate blues to soft oceanic grays, the couched yarns—in shades of dark green, rust red, multi-colored variegated copper, and muted blue—resemble floating jellyfish, stylized water ripples, or abstract floral stems drifting through a watery expanse. Long tail-like strands trail downward from several of the spiral centers, enhancing the vertical flow and organic movement of the piece, while the tactile dimension of the couched yarn creates a striking 3D contrast against the smooth, layered background.
