Ingredients

  • 3.5 pounds spareribs
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons catsup
  • 0.5 cup water or white wine

Instructions

Brown the ribs 7 or 8 minutes each side of the side of ribs in the broiler. salt and pepper each side or I sometimes use homemade rub with Grandma's french herbs and celery seed added.

Optional: sliced onion on the bottom of crock pot; pam sides just in case to avoid sticking.

Prepare James Beard sauce: 1/2 cup honey, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 2 garlic cloves, crushed and chopped, 3 Tablespoons catsup, 1/2 cup water or white wine.

Slice ribs into serving pieces and add to crockpot.

Pour half sauce over first side; add second side and pour the rest.

The best ribs are when I am home and half way through the cooking I take out the ribs and lots of the sauce and return the ribs in reverse order and pour the sauce over again.

Cook for crockpot times--mine says 8 to 10 hours on low and 4 to 5 hours on high.
